GOOD NEWS! GOOD LAUNCHES GOOD NEWS -- AN ALL-NEW DAILY WEB NEWSCAST
Newly Appointed Anchorman—Roger Numbers—Poised to Become the Internet’s First Great Animated News Personality
[ClickPress, Thu Nov 20 2008] GOOD, the integrated media company for people who want to live well and do good, today announced the launch of GOOD News – an all-new daily newscast on the Web. Every Monday thru Friday at 8:00am EST, GOOD will release a 90-second video episode featuring timely and topical news delivered in GOOD’s clever and thoughtful voice. GOOD News will be hosted by anchorman, Roger Numbers. Mr. Numbers will occasionally be accompanied by guest correspondents and will conduct one-on-one interviews with high-profile guests.
Former producer of NPR’s "Fresh Air with Terry Gross,” Ian Chillag, will serve as managing editor of GOOD News, while Lindsay Utz and Jordan Ruden – respectively editorial director and director of video production at GOOD —will serve as executive producers. The show will focus on a variety of topics from politics, business and the economy to arts, culture and science.
“Mainstream television news is increasingly turning thoughtful people away. It’s too partisan, too angry, or too depressing. As more people look to the Web for their information, GOOD News endeavors to meet this need in the same entertaining and relevant way that we produce content across all of our platforms” said Craig Shapiro, president of new media at GOOD.
Good News launches with the support of charter sponsor, Lexus. As part of the sponsorship, Lexus branding will be incorporated into the newscasts and viewers can watch Lexus news vignettes during the broadcast. Additionally, as part of its multimedia partnership, Lexus is sponsoring GOOD’s editorial Project online and its upcoming State of the Planet issue, which asks readers to submit nominations of people doing good in their communities today. Winners will be featured as part of the GOOD 100 list – a list of the 100 most creative people and ideas pushing the world forward.
“At Lexus, we truly believe that there are good things happening today and we look forward to working with GOOD to promote that message,” said Dave Nordstrom, Lexus vice president of marketing. “We have three hybrid vehicles on the road today and through our new hybrid campaign we will have the opportunity to share that news with a community who knows that living well and doing good aren’t mutually exclusive.”
For the complete GOOD News experience, members of the GOOD community can visit http://www.good.is/news where they can watch the daily videos, access related content, meet host Roger Numbers, and engage in an online conversation about the show. Additionally, GOOD News will be distributed across other partner sites and via mobile devices.
