That's not a bomb, that's a traffic recording mechanism
Army bomb experts called out to blow up a suspicious package in West Lothian discovered it was a traffic monitoring radar, puit there by West Lothian Council
[ClickPress, Wed Mar 15 2006] ARMY bomb disposal experts were called out to blow up a suspicious device attached to a lamp-post in Broxburn, West Lothian.
But the 'package' turned out to be a traffic recording mechanism.
The incident happened on Saturday, March 11, following a report to the police of a suspicious package secured to a sign post adjacent to the A89 Road to the rear of Grampian Country Pork Limited.
Initial enquiries failed to identify the object or its owner.
Police contacted the EOD (Bomb Squad) who attended and carried out a controlled explosion of the device.
This opened the item, and it was then discovered to be Traffic Monitoring Radar, which had been put there by West Lothian Council's highways department.
