BRITAIN'S OLDEST SUPERSTARS TO GATHER FOR THE OLDIE OF THE YEAR AWARDS


Never mind the Oscars… Britain’s oldest superstars will gather at Simpson’s-in-the-strand on Tuesday 21st March. Sir Terry Wogan hosts the UK’s annual Oldie of the Year Awards to celebrate this year’s deserving ‘Oldies’, sponsored by Swan Hellenic.


[ClickPress, Wed Mar 15 2006] Over a hundred of the most respected names in politics and entertainment will attend the event to celebrate the year's finest examples of true Oldie spirit. The awards ceremony starts with a champagne reception at 12pm.

Guests in attendance include host Sir Terry Wogan, Walter Wolfgang, Alan Whicker, Barry Cryer, Beryl Bainbridge, Sir John Mortimer and George Galloway. And a few whippersnappers get in too – such as Ian Hislop, Griff Rhys-Jones and Carol Thatcher.

The winners are decided by an illustrious panel of Esteemed guest judges – they include Libby Purves, James Naughtie, Richard Ingrams, Swan Hellenic MD Tony Dyson and Ned Sherrin, with revered awards including Scribe of the Year, Spouse of the year, Heckler of the Year, and Swan Hellenic Sea Dog of the Year Award – all announced on the day.
