Business Bay Creek Extension Reaches 3.2km

Developers are approaching Dubai Properties for land possession to start their developments

[ClickPress, Sun Mar 19 2006] Dubai Properties has announced that the extension of the Dubai Creek is progressing rapidly. Around 3.2 kilometers of work has been completed in the Business Bay Creek extension project.

Ground work on Business Bay is proceeding on schedule and developers have started approaching Dubai Properties for land possession. Deyaar, which has two plots in the development, is one of the first developers to start construction on its first plot. Road works on Doha Road and Oud Metha Road have also started in line with the master plan of the 64 million square feet development.

Hashim Al Dabal, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Properties, said: “We are quite pleased with the progress of not just the Creek extension, but with the progress of the entire project. Developers who have invested in the project and in us have started to take possession of their plots and we will soon see a lot of construction activity taking place at the site in the coming months

Business Bay Creek extension project was awarded recently the “Five-Star Award for Safety,” the highest category of the award designed by Dutco Balfour Beatty Group.

The award was presented to Dubai Properties following an internal audit conducted by the Group Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Department. According to the award’s criteria, construction sites are awarded a rating of 0 to 5 depending on their safety and environmental performance.

Steven vd Vyver, Group HSE Manager, Dutco Group said: “I would like to congratulate the entire management team and all the employees on the site for achieving this award. It reflects the high safety and security measurements implemented at the site. “

Speaking about the importance of receiving such award, Al Dabal noted that this award is just one step in our promise to deliver a high quality urban development that is vigilant about environmental safety standards. However, this also means that we must strive to continuously better our standards in line with local and international expectations

He added that the vision of Business Bay is to outshine the world's most prominent cities in terms of infrastructure, design, urban planning, architecture and perfect environmental balance. In this respect special measures have been put in place to safeguard the ecosystem of the surrounding environment. Furthermore on-site procedures include training programs for all laborers, provision of necessary safety equipment, and implementation of international industry practices for all activities.

On the other hand, Dubai Properties is also in the process of submitting a full Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) to Dubai Municipality for the Business Bay by mid-March.

Business Bay is the master development by Dubai Properties located between Sheikh Zayed Road and Al Khail Road. Underground water has started to rise in the completed sections, which extend from old Creek’s head at Ras Al Khor. Business Bay offers waterfront high-rise towers, both commercial and residential, along the undulating waters of the Creek.

The Business Bay is a ‘city within a city’, being developed along the lines of Manhattan of New York or the Ginza of Tokyo, to provide the best possible commercial environment to world-class companies, investors and businesses. The first phase of the project includes the extension of the historic Dubai Creek, along which the infrastructure is being developed.
