Pen Injectors Achieving Dominance for Treatment of Chronic Conditions
New Survey by Greystone Associates Identifies Factors Driving Pen Growth
[ClickPress, Tue Mar 28 2006] Pen injectors are already a leading drug delivery method in Europe where more than half of all diabetics use them to administer insulin injections. In other major therapeutic areas such as the administration of immune modulators for the treatment of autoimmune diseases and Hepatitis C, they have quickly gained market share and become a dominant factor in self-care for millions of patients.
“Drug marketers now realize that the growing trend toward self-administration for chronic conditions such as MS and arthritis presents unique challenges for combination products,” explains George Perros, Greystone Associates Managing Director. “Success in these markets is highly dependent on understanding patient needs and incorporating delivery technologies that are patient-friendly and can improve compliance.”
These findings are contained in a new and comprehensive report: Pen Injectors: Worldwide Markets and Therapies. The survey concludes that pen injectors will continue to expand as device designers create pen devices that address the specific needs of end users.
