[ClickPress, Wed Apr 12 2006] To commemorate the Holocaust Day of Remembrance on April 25, InterfaithFamily.com (www.interfaithfamily.com), an independent non-profit publisher and advocacy membership association, is focusing the new issue of its Web Magazine on the perspectives of interfaith families on the Holocaust. The articles, most of which were written by members of interfaith families, explore the influences and impact that the Holocaust has had on their lives.
The articles cover a range of themes, including: defining identity, reconnecting with Jewish heritage, creating a Jewish household, issues in intermarriage, and the importance of remembering. The site also includes a list of Online Resources for Families of Holocaust Survivors. Original and reprinted articles include: “Visiting Auschwitz: The Unexpected Aftermath” by Alex Romano; “Seeking the Light: Child of Holocaust Survivors Reclaims Judaism” by Hedi Molnar; “Night Rider” by Joel Fischel; “Where Do We Come From? Do We Know Where We are Going? Thoughts from a Son of Holocaust Survivors” by Sol Levin; “Holocaust Stories” by Amy Elkes; “My Generation and the Holocaust” by Shana Franklin; and “In Study, Youth See Holocaust and Jewish Culture as Keys to Identity” by Sue Fishoff, correspondent for The Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
“The Holocaust has strengthened the resolve of many Jews to pass down their heritage and religion to their children,” said Edmund Case, president and publisher, InterfaithFamily.com. “When Jews marry someone outside their religion, it can create feelings of guilt and conflict with their commitment to creating a Jewish home. The articles in the new issue of InterfaithFamily.com's Web Magazine explore ways that interfaith families have resolved these issues to create Jewish homes, and present a variety of perspectives on this topic.”
