AMERICAN CONSERVATIVE VALUES OUTRAGED OVER DEMOCRAT AIG SCANDAL

American Conservative Values' outrage is not about AIG, even though we strongly feel that the company should have been allowed to fail entirely and had its assets auctioned off, in accordance with U.S. bankruptcy laws. No, our outrage is about the pitiful, execratory behavior of our federal government.

[ClickPress, Fri Mar 20 2009] American Conservative Values has released a statement expressing outrage and pure disgust over the AIG bonus drama.

AIG paid out $168 million in bonus money to executives that the company says earned them by fulfilling contractual obligations. AIG has received $180 billion from the federal government in exchange for "the government" (which is supposed to mean the American public) now owning 80% of the failing financial services company.

American Conservative Values' outrage is not about AIG, even though we strongly feel that the company should have been allowed to fail entirely and had its assets auctioned off, in accordance with U.s. bankruptcy laws. No, our outrage is about the pitiful, execratory behavior of our federal government.

AIG CEO Edward Liddy on Wednesday testified before Congress and said to them, in response for their demanding all of the names of the AIG employees set to receive the bonus payouts, "Let me just read two things to you. 'All the executives and their family should be executed with piano wire around their necks. My greatest hope: If the government can't do this properly, we the people will take it in our own hands and see that justice is done. I'm looking for all the CEO's names, their kids, where they live, etc.' You have a legitimate request. I want to protect the well being of our employees."

These were death threats. Liddy did not want to reveal the employee names. What did Democratic Senator Barney Frank say in reply? "I understand that. Many of us get these kinds of threats. Clearly, those threats are despicable. At this point, I am not persuaded...if we give into those kind of threats we would never get information to the public about a lot of things."

Well, we wonder what would happen if "those kind of threats" came from a different angle--one of Frank's colleagues?

Senator Charles Grassley said that if the executives did not give back all of the bonus money, they should follow the example of the Japanese: take a deep, apologetic bow, and then "resign or commit suicide".

That's disgusting. We mean, really.

When pressed for an explanation about his own words later on, the Democrat Senator replied, “I hope you recognize rhetoric...you oughta be able to tell rhetoric when you hear it."

Yes, Senator Grassley, many of us do recognize mere rhetoric--such as everything that comes out of the mouth of our current President.

Senator Christopher Dodd with the agreement of some others put in an amendment in the $180 billion stimulus bill to AIG stipulating clearly that these bonuses would be paid! There is an exception in the bill for all contractually granted bonuses agreed upon before February 11th, 2009 which makes all of the bonuses that the Democrats, our current President, and their RINO backers are now outraged about. They authorized their pay-out...and now, they decide, after the fact, that there's something wrong with it. This is the audacity of cowardice--for you know that you have failed to earn your money, even as you vehemently chastise others for the same sin.

One brain-dead senator even smugly and haughtily claimed that the bonuses, if not returned, should be "taxed at 1,000%". (She obviously failed her mathematics classes as well as civics.)

Even the mere public discussion of these notions is nothing less than a de facto breaking of a binding contract--the very foundation of all enterprise in the United States and in all of capitalism, easily the greatest economic engine the world has ever seen. This is the violating of a binding contract--and, thus, it is outright fraud.

This is a pure Democrat scandal. No House Republican voted for this perverse bill, and only three RINOs in the Senate voted for it. The Democrats voted to give these bonus payments. Now they don't like it...because the public found out about it.

Christopher Dodd was the #1 recipient of AIG support funds before they got their bailout money. #2 was then-Senator Barack Obama. American Conservative Values calls them both a disgrace. American Conservative Values calls for them both to bow deeply to us, and then resign.

Well, Democrats, it's too late. You cannot pass legislation that makes past deeds into a present crime. That is an utter violation of the Constitution. You should all be impeached just for suggesting this.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the two-faced nature of the Democrats. Given their performance with our economy since 2006, given President Obama's truly outrageous performance thus far, why don't we the People, WE WHO OWN 80% OF AIG NOW, NOT YOU LEGISLATORS IN D.C., BARNEY FRANK--why don't WE, WHO ARE SUPPOSED TO "OWN" 100% OF THE AMERICAN GOVERNMENT--demand that ALL OF YOU GIVE UP 100% OF YOUR SALARIES FOR YOUR HORRIBLE PERFORMANCES?

American people, listen to this: this is not about AIG executive bonuses. This is about government power games and strangleholds on your entire way of life. The government says it can violate any contract it wants to. The government says it can tell you how much you can get paid. It says it can make anything it wants to a crime or a taxable event after the fact.
