[ClickPress, Thu Apr 28 2005] Southampton, PA USA --TempSensor.net has concluded it first web poll of IR Thermometers with some remarkable findings. First, the most popular brand turned out to be Exergen, a specialty IR instrument company from Waltham Massachusetts USA of the nine named brands listed in the survey poll. The least popular, of the brands listed was Omerga/Vanzetti of Stamford Connecticut USA, one of the largest sellers of temperature sensors in the world.

The third most interesting result, was the second most popular brand was not a brand at all, but the defalut "Other" category!

In order of popularity, the results were: #1 - Exergen(USA), #2 - "Other", #3 - Land/Minolta (UK-Japan), #4-Ircon/Chino (USA-Japan), #5 - ZYTemp(Taiwan), #6 - Raytek/Fluke(USA), #7- A tie between Mikron/Impac(USA-Germany) and Williamson(USA), # 9. Omega/Vanzetti(USA).

This was not a statistically-designed survey, but rather a popularity poll, conducted on the www.TempSensor.net web site. The organizations involved with all of the brands mentioned in the survey were sent emails relating to the poll a full month before its conclusion. Cheating was allowed equally for one and all. News of the pool was published on the website as well as being distributed to various press sites for publication. So, the popularity was a relative measure of interest in the website as well as the products and the brands mentioned. More than 230 website visitors voted in the poll in the space of six weeks.

A second IR Thermometer popularity will be taken in about one year. Meanwhile look for further popularity polls on this site as TEMPERATURE PROBE and IR THERMAL IMAGER polls are planned for the next few months.

Any organizations believing they should be mentioned in any of these polls may contact the staff at www.TempSensor net using the feedback form on its affiliated educational website, About Temperature Sensors (www.temperatures.com/feedback.html)
