Egyptian Art Exhibit at Holiday Centre

Art enthusiasts will be given a rare opportunity to view the work of prominent Egyptian painter Ibrahim Sarhan in an art exhibit which will be held at the Holiday Centre lobby on May 10th, Wednesday, at 6:00 in the evening.

[ClickPress, Tue May 09 2006] Art enthusiasts will be given a rare opportunity to view the work of prominent Egyptian painter Ibrahim Sarhan in an art exhibit which will be held at the Holiday Centre lobby on May 10th, Wednesday, at 6:00 in the evening.

Thirty five (35) paintings will be put on display during the exhibit, which is an initiative of Dubai TV’s General Manager Mr. Ali Khalifa Rumaithi and will be formally inaugurated by Egyptian Ambassador to the UAE Ibrahim Hafeez.

Sarhan studied music and painting at the Fine Arts Faculty in Alexandria in 1963. With 38 years of experience as an artist, he has been living in Dubai with his family for 17 years when they went back to Egypt in 1992. Now in his early 60s, he returned to the UAE last year along with his son and settled in Sharjah where he is currently teaching music and painting.

Sarhan believes that all his pieces illustrate a distinct colour combination, which is where his strength lies as an artist. This is confirmed by a fellow painter who describes his use of colours as “wonderful which fascinate the viewers, all of these are collected in one meaning to achieve a complementary artistic value to the subject.”

Banu Tas, Holiday Centre Operations Manager says, “We are honored to have an extremely talented artist like Mr. Ibrahim Sarhan who is recognized not only in Egypt but also in Syria, Libya as well as in Dubai. We are hoping that the exhibit will be enjoyed by the public, especially by those who are very supportive in promoting the arts.”

The week-long exhibition will be held from the 10th until the 16th of May.
