Bangkok – Effem Thailand, a leading manufacturer of quality pet foods including Pedigree®, has continued its commitment to improving the quality of life for pets by recently donating 5,000 kg of Pedigree® dry dog food to help feed dogs living at the Animal Quarantine Station in Nakorn Phanom, Nong Kai and Mukdaharn. The donation effort also included rabies vaccines, as well as repellent spray to help protect the 500 dogs living there from ticks and fleas.

The Animal Quarantine Station is home to hundreds of dogs that have been rescued before they could be sold across Thailand’s borders and become food for humans. The dogs are sheltered at the Quarantine Station while their cases are reviewed and they await the possibility of transfer to a new home.

Pedigree® also recently donated 2,000 kg of Pedigree® dry dog food to Dogs’ Island in Phutthamonthon, which will be used to help feed another 500 dogs living there. Pedigree executives visited Dogs’ Island to make the donation, which included antibiotic medications for parasites.

Dogs’ Island is a non-profit organization, whose main sponsors include the Thai Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the public. It’s located on 3.2 rai of land, and is home to hundreds dogs that have been abandoned around greater Bangkok, providing them with proper food and a decent place to live.

Amphol Nirutnapaphan, Market Director for Effem Thailand, said: "Pedigree® sees the problems and understand that both organizations need urgent help. So, we come to support them to help these poor dogs by providing appropriate resources including food and vaccine in order to provide a better life for them."

"Each of these dogs living at the Animal Quarantine Station and Dogs’ Island deserves a second chance at life, and we’re delighted to be able to help these organizations provide that second chance," added Amphol.
