May is National Sight-Saving: Ultraviolet Awareness Month. Visual Enhancements Inc, a leading low vision sight-saving solutions company, is expanding its eye health awareness outreach with the launch of Visual Enhancments.com. It incorporates bold colors and graphics, streaming media and completely new navigational tools.

Visual Impairments Sky Rocket

The number of Americans with eye disorders is increasing, and vision loss is fast becoming a major national health concern. By the year 2020, the number of people who are blind or have low vision is projected to increase substantially. Blindness or low vision affects 3.3 million Americans, age 40 and over. NEI forecasts this figure will reach 5.5 million by the year 2020.

Low vision is of particular concern to women. Of the two million people is USA diagnosed with vision low due to macular generation, 1.3 million are women.

Low vision is a visual impairment, not correctable by standard glasses, contact lenses, medicine, or surgery, that interferes with a person's ability to perform everyday activities.
