Rhode Island Grammy Award Nominee working on new Album

Rhode Island Grammy Nominee Mark Cutler is working on a new sound and album in his quest for a Grammy

[ClickPress, Wed May 17 2006] Grammy nominee Mark Cutler with his current band "Men of Great Courage" have been recording live at various Rhode Island venues with other notable artists. Insiders say they are working toward a unique new sound for an upcoming album.

"They have been doing most of their recording at the Ruff Stone Tavern in North Providence," said Tony Caramadre owner of Phattones Studio in Warwick, Rhode Island. Tony is known as 'Rhode Island's Man of Music' who also produces a musician’s newsletter called the Phattones Enews. Phattones Studio is where the recently released and critically acclaimed album "Collaboration" was recorded. That album went on to be nominated as "Best Album of the Year" by Motif Magazine and included performances by Cutler, Becky Chace, Dan Lilley, John Mac, Jan Schmidt, Bob Hymers and more. According to Tony, "They even had us come out to Ruff Stone in a torrential rain to record them with an enthusiastic and loyal following . . . all to work on getting the sound."

Mark and "The Men of Great Courage" Jimmy Berger, Mike Tanaka, Dickie Reed, Bobby Gillespie, David Richardson, Bob Kirkman and Phil Hicks along with recording technicians from Phattones Studio in Warwick were on hand for this recent session.

Cutler, originally from the Schemers, Raindogs and Dino Club fame has also played with fellow artists Emerson Torrey (a founding member of The Schemers) and Scott Duhamel (of Dino Club) while working on this project.

Mark Cutler, in a recent prepared statement said, "We're still in the process of ironing out the best approach to recording all these instruments in a live situation. The plan is to get a few of the best sounding recordings out in some form. The gigs have been a real lot of fun and we're getting better and better with each performance."

Among the sounds included in these performances are a bluesy harmonica, accordion, mandolin, banjo, bass and more.

The Ruff Stone Tavern is owned by Sean Feeley formerly of the band MX and his wife Diane.
