Storm Season is Here! How to Protect Your Electronics and Save Money at the Same Time

[ClickPress, Mon May 18 2009] In an average year, the United States experiences 100,000 thunderstorms which produce over 20 million lightning strikes. The Midwestern and Southern States are the states that are hit the most. For your home electronics to be damaged by lightning, the lightning does not have to hit your house directly.

Lightning is not the only thing that is damaging your electronics. Typical residential power sources from your utility company allow literally hundreds of spikes and surges per day, which is damaging your electronics all day long and reducing their operating life and quality. These voltage surges and spikes come from many different internal and external sources, such as utility grid changes, damaged transformers or electrical lines due to accidents or acts of God, old or out-dated transformers, and turning on and off major appliances in your home.

With the number of dollars invested in the electronics in our homes these days, it only makes sense to protect them. It is more economical to get a device that protects the all of the electronics in your home versus buying a surge suppression device for every outlet or every appliance. You want a device that is simply wired into your circuit breaker box and one that has “dual-mode” surge suppression. Look for a device that both diverts a major surge, like from a lighting strike, to the home’s ground lines, and one that cuts off the flow of electricity and thus, blocking the surge. Most importantly, check the manufacture warranty, if they do not back their product up with a warranty that replaces your lost electronics from a major surge, like from a lightning strike, then look for a product that does.

While researching products, look for a device that also corrects your home’s Power Factor. A typical home in the U.S. only has a Power Factor of .77 out of 1. So, by installing a device that also correct the Power Factor, you can start saving 20% or more off of your electric bill. Bob Novak of Technologies for Healthy Living, LLC, a leading environmental energy consultant recently stated, “A few years ago this technology was too costly for the average homeowner. But now, we can all affordably protect all of our electronics and at the same time correct the problems of the electrical supply from our utility company.”

Bob Novak has recently created a Free Report, “How to Save BIG on Electricity. What You Need to Know Right, Now.” Inside this report, Mr. Novak is going to share how your home is wasting power without you even knowing it and how to protect your electronics, along with the solutions on how to fix them.
