The annual Bowl festival returns to Crystal Palace Park this summer (Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st July) with Sounds of the Suburbs (SOS) Promotions, the not-for-profit outfit behind the event, showcasing some of the best-unsigned bands, artists and up-and-coming music talent south of the Thames.

Now in its seventh year, The Bowl is fast becoming a major player on the South London festival circuit, with hundreds of acts applying last year for one of thirteen coveted places on stage.

SOS organisers are currently looking for South London based artists, bands and DJ's of any genre for this year's event. All acts must be willing to play for free and should be available over the weekend of Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July 2005.

'All original music styles are welcome,' says Wayne Fletcher, A&R at SOS -'so if you think you've got something to contribute and are based in South London then visit the website www.thebowl.org.uk download the application form, and send it, along with your 3-4-track demo, (with photo if possible)
and brief profile to SOS Promotions, Flat 3, 169 Anerley Road, Anerley, London, SE20 8EF.'

Closing date for demos is Monday April 4th and all confirmed bands will be notified in May.

'We would particularly like to hear from Reggae, Hip-Hop and Jazz outfits, but no cover bands please,' adds Wayne.

Seen a band that fits the bill? Let them know.

Note to editors

Last year several thousand people soaked up the sun armed with big smiles and a real community spirit as thirteen rising bands took to the stage for the free two-day musical extravaganza which showcased South London's best in Reggae, Hip-Hop, Rock, Pop, Ska and Folk.
