Zach is smack dab in the middle of an internal debate between his head and…well, let’s just say another part of his anatomy. Svetlana gets some tragic news from home.
[ClickPress, Thu Jun 08 2006] Zach Mann is continuing his friendship-with-benefits with local girl, Crystal. He likes her a lot, but does not want to be in a relationship. He used to be fat, and never wanted to be like those guys who looked upon women as dispensable…but now he’s a hot young man with access to lots of hot young ladies, and you can see his hormones and his conscience are locked in a serious battle.
At the salon, Svetlana Shusterman gets a call from her hometown boyfriend Martin. Martin tells her that his father – who has been sick with cancer – seems to be nearing death. Svetlana breaks down crying in the salon and decides she needs to temporarily leave The Real World to go home for the weekend to see her boyfriend.
That night, most of the gang is out at a bar for a Miss Hawaiian Tropic contest. Zach’s hormones are put to further test as the third runner-up takes an interest in him. They spend the evening dancing closely, but he ultimately goes home without her.
The next day, Tyler Duckworth and Zach discuss Miss Third Runner-Up. Zach insists he never would have done anything with her, and Tyler says later in interview that he thinks Zach is so concerned with appearing to be a good guy to other people that he sometimes doesn’t do what he would really like to do.
Later, the house has a barbeque and Crystal, Zach’s friend-with-benefits, attends. He mentions to her the conversation with the ex, and she says she’s recently heard from her ex as well. Zach points out – as gently as he can – that he doesn’t want to be anyone’s boyfriend, so she shouldn’t do or not do anything with the ex on account of him.
Later Zach tells John Devenanzio that it’s okay that this happened, and that it’s probably better if nothing happens with him and Crystal moving forward. If he wants to stay unattached – and doesn’t want to be the kind of jerky guy he’s always looked down on – he’s might just have to play it safe.
