Southland Log Home Qualifies for ENERGY STAR Certification

Southland Log Homes, Inc. America’s favorite log home, is pleased to report that recent independent testing of a Southland Log Home indicates that Southland’s materials and designs can be used to qualify Southland Log Homes for ENERGY STAR certification.

America’s favorite log home, is pleased to report that recent independent testing of a Southland Log Home indicates that Southland’s materials and designs can be used to qualify Southland Log Homes for ENERGY STAR certification. ENERGY STAR is a widely recognized U.S. government program that certifies homes (and other products) that achieve significant energy savings.

The independent testing of a Southland Log Home was done to support the company’s recent efforts to promote the energy efficiency of its log homes and the green building practices that they represent. The test results confirmed that, when quality building practices are used, Southland Log Homes can exceed ENERGY STAR rating requirements and received a “Five Stars Confirmed Rating” under The Home Energy Rating System.
The test results are consistent with findings in past studies, which have found log homes providing energy cost savings as high as 46% for winter heating and 24% for winter cooling.

In addition to energy savings, the green construction advantages of Southland Log Homes include the use of a significantly greater percentage of renewable building materials than do conventionally constructed homes.
