The UAE Volleyball Association (UAE VA) in conjunction with Organisers Abjad Sports and Events and the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) is conducting a six-day referee clinic to train UAE referees officiating in matches to an international standard.

The clinic is being conducted by FIVB Referee Delegate and Beach Volleyball Instructor Jeff Brehaut from May 17th to 22nd at the Satwa sports ground in the presence of Sultan Saqer Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of the General Authority of Youth and Sports and Dr. Khalifa Rashid Al Shaali, Chairman of the UAE VA.

"Dubai will play host to the final leg of the Swatch FIVB World Tour, a world ranking Men's Beach Volleyball tournament in November this year," said Jassim Ali Rajab, Secretary General of the UAE VA, "and we are committed to ensuring that the standards of refereeing at the event are of international grade as 32 teams from around the world will compete for top honours."

The ongoing six-day clinic would provide comprehensive information to the participants about beach volleyball, the world tour and structure of events, refereeing qualifications, rules of the game, practical applications as well as opportunities to practice their newly acquired skills in game situations.

Jeff Brehaut is an International Beach Referee with extensive experience including officiating in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He also holds the rare distinction of being the referee officiating in the first men's Beach Volleyball Final.
