[ClickPress, Tue Jul 25 2006] When you weigh 29 stone, Activity Pursuits such as karting, paintballing and rally driving are probably the furthest thing from your mind. Not for Tom Elswood, however. For him, these activities, and particularly his participation in them, were at the very forefront of his mind.

"The computer company I work for arranged a corporate day out with a company called The Activity People for us to go paintballing and quad biking and, I have to say, this notion filled me with dread because I knew my weight would definitely be an issue," says Tom. And, unfortunately, at his peak weight of just under 30 stones, he was unable to compete in either event.

"This was when I knew that I would have to change things around. I couldn't stand being excluded from all the fun things purely because of the size of my frame. I wanted to paintball, I wanted to kart and go quad biking but I simply couldn't as my weight always precluded me from doing so", says Tom today and looking at his now, almost svelte, frame, it is hard to believe he ever weighed a colossal 30 stones!

"I spoke to The Activity People about the weight restrictions that they have on their events like Quad Biking, Karting and Rally Driving. They were really helpful and supportive and they informed that the majority of their events carry a maximum weight limit of 18 stones. So, this became my goal, to reach 18 stones and take part in the events I never thought possible," Tom continues, beaming with pride, which is understandable given his gargantuan effort and the number of pounds he has managed to shed.

Tom went on to explain how he achieved his goals, "I just made a concerted effort to exercise every single day and completely cut out all junk food and snacks during the course of the day. I went to the gym three times a week and for a run every night. Soon the weight starting to cascade off and I hit the target of 18 stones. The first thing I did was ring The Activity People to arrange a quad biking session for myself and it was quite simply the most exhilarating thing I have ever done!"

Not content with hitting 18 stones, Tom continued his stringent diet and now weighs a healthy 15 stones. He now also has a penchant for adrenaline pursuits having being the catalyst for his whole weight loss regime. "I looked at The Activity People's website and they had so many activities I wanted to try! Since losing the weight, I've been Quad Biking, Rally Driving, Karting and plan to drive an F1 race car next! You can definitely call me an adrenaline junkie now....which is definitely better than the fast food junkie that I used to be!"

Ends.
