Suchorzewski Nudges Ahead in UKIP Leadership Race

Richard Suchorzewski, Chairman of UKIP Wales, today announced that he had more supporters and endorsements than any other candidate in the UKIP Leadership race.

[ClickPress, Wed Jul 26 2006] Richard Suchorzewski, Chairman of UKIP Wales, today announced that he had more supporters and endorsements than any other candidate in the UKIP Leadership race.

A survey of supporters listed on the candidates’ websites showed that Mr Suchorzewski has just nudged ahead of his main rival Nigel Farage. He also now has the support of five UKIP National Executive Committee members, which compares to just three supporting Nigel Farage and David Campbell Bannerman.

“This confirms what I have felt on the ground” stated Mr Suchorzewski. “The activists are keen for change, they are keen for some professionalism, and they are keen for a full time leader who will transform UKIP into an effective pro-British party.”

“Nigel Farage’s failure to turn up for the last four hustings really hasn’t done him any favours, and I think that his support among the grass roots is slipping away”.

Other prominent supporters of Richard Suchorzewski include the very popular former Chairman, Petrina Holdsworth, and Trevor Colman, instigator of the “Let’s Govern Ourselves” campaign.
