118 trades eyes unemployment blackspots for growth
Daniel Corby, Founder and CEO of 118 trades, a leading directory service, is looking at opening new call centres in unemployment blackspots
[ClickPress, Wed Jul 26 2006] Fast growing internet directory, 118 trades is looking at opening new call centres in unemployment blackspots across the UK in a bid to create a 'win win' situation for the community and the business.
Daniel Corby, founder and CEO said "We are looking at unemployment black spots across Britain to open new call centres in. It's no secret, these areas will offer incentives for large employers to locate to, and as our business relies on skilled telesales people, it seems right to focus on these areas. I liken it to fishing. If you go fishing, it makes sense to fish where the fish swim. This is exactly what 118 trades will be doing, by locating to a troublesome employment area. We will find recruitment easier and will bring large scale employment to a local and possibly deprived area.
We have recently spoken to the Welsh development agency, and will consider all reasonable options put to us from Local authorities. Our business is telesales, so the location to us is not critical. This morning, I read in the news that a large Insurer is relocating from an unemployment black spot to India. Where most people see problems, I see opportunities. I see this as a real chance to grow our business and at the same time help local and deprived communities.
People often have a dim view of telesales offices, but we offer good working conditions, good pay and the chance to build real careers with us. Our top people have been with us for over a year, drive nice company cars and earn really good money for delivering good results for the business.
Where we do this and replicate our business model, does not matter to me. If we can do it in hard hit areas, so much the better"
118 trades covers 70% of the UK and aims to be national by December 2006.
118 trades already has 40,000 active members.
The business has recently appointed Business Veteran, Richard Allan to the board as Chairman and plans to float on AIM in 2007 / 2008.
