St. Bartholomew's Church - Commemorates Fifth Anniversary of 9/11
The Center for Religious Inquiry at St. Bartholomew’s Church presents Senator Mitchell’s talk and other events, five years after the violence of 9/11.
[ClickPress, Fri Jul 28 2006] On Thursday, September 7 at 7:30 PM, The Center for Religious Inquiry at St. Bartholomew’s Church will present a free lecture by Senator George Mitchell about the prospect of world peace.

Senator George Mitchell, chair of the Center for Religious Inquiry, spoke at the opening event of CRI’s 2001 fall season. On September 10, 2001, Senator Mitchell addressed a full house about his peacemaking efforts in both the Middle East and Ireland. Less than 12 hours later, our world changed. Senator Mitchell returns five years later to give his assessment about the prospects for world peace.
Senator Mitchell serves as chairman of the board of The Walt Disney Company and the chairman of his law firm, DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary, LLP. He was senator from the state of Maine from 1980 until 1995, and was Senate Majority Leader from 1989 until 1995. He recently was asked by major league baseball officials to investigate the use of performance-enhancing drugs in the sport.

As part of St. Bartholomew’s Summer Festival of Sacred Music, St. Bartholomew’s Choir offers music from Mozart’s great Requiem sung in memory of those who perished on September 11, 2001.

Interfaith Memorial Service in the Church.
Join us for this 45-minute service of music and meditation, in memory of those who perished on September 11, 2001.
