[ClickPress, Thu Oct 08 2009] Kaminski Auctions’ September Fine Art and Estates Auction, which took place September 26-27, 2009, attracted bidders both locally in Massachusetts and internationally via phone and live online bidding. The auction featured general antiques and fine art alongside a collection of silver serving pieces. Consignments hailed from estates spanning Massachusetts to Kaminski’s second location in California. (All prices reflect a 15% buyers premium)
Highlighting this exciting two-day auction was a Continental silver figural centerpiece. Additional silver highlights included a silver and crystal punch bowl with a sterling ladle. The punch bowl is marked “Bolin” and stands at 13 inches in height. The vessel’s cover bears a floral design and is topped with a silver pineapple figure. The ladle boasts an ornate design as well, with delicate swirls extending from the handle to the piece’s basin. The unusual set caught the eye of a savvy floor bidder, selling for $6,900.
An Art Deco sculpture by Boris Lovet-Lorski was also featured. Lovet-Lorski played a major role in the Art Deco movement, having emigrated from Russia to the America in 1920, and has carved portrait busts for four American presidents. This particular bronze sculpture, depicting the bust of a Polynesian woman, measures 9.25 inches tall on a black wood base. The piece is signed and dated 1930 and boasts an original dark bronze patina. The sculpture sold for a final price of $9,775 to a floor bidder.

“We’re thrilled at the opportunity to bring consignments from across the country to the heart of New England, where they can realize the best prices.” comments Frank Kaminski. “We are always looking for items to include in upcoming auctions and can take consignments in any volume, from a single piece to an entire estate.”
