Daniel Corby CEO 118 Group plans to change the way we buy and sell used cars

Taking on established rivals has never bothered Daniel Corby, CEO and founder of 118 Group. Now he plans to launch an attack on established rivals in the used car business, matching buyers and sellers in unique on-line offering

[ClickPress, Thu Aug 03 2006] Daniel Corby, founder and CEO 118 Group plans to take on Auto Trader in bid to change the way people buy and sell used cars in the UK

118 Group has recently completed its acquision of Car Auto – a web based service which will match buyers to sellers and be backed by a major advertising campaign, handled by UK media buyers, Rathbone Media.

“The concept is very simple” said Daniel Corby, speaking about the imminent launch of the concept, “at present Joe Public either spends £30 a week in a local newspaper to advertise his car, or £70 a fortnight in a motoring magazine, but results are varied and there is no guarantee of interested buyers seeing the advert. Car Auto will be free to use for buyers and they will be encouraged to register their interests with us. When we list a car for sale, the images and the advert will be e-mailed to the prospective purchases free of charge, therefore enhancing the chances of a successful sale. We aim to develop Car Auto into the market leader within 18 months, and are confident that a tie up with major motor dealer groups will create a really useful market place for people serious about buying cars. The business will be run as a trading division of 118 Group and will have its own management team, based in Chelmsford to drive the business forward. There will be a number of affinity deals in place, which will include Insurance Companies, Warranties, Finance, Number plates and accessories”

118 Group is a directory services business based in Essex, with offices in Chelmsford, Harlow and Salt Lake City, India.

“We aim to add value to the customer transaction” said Daniel Corby, “and be really different in everything that we do. The major advertising for the Car Auto brand will be handled by Rathbone Media, where the account will be managed by Matt Potter, International Media Director”
