118 Group prepares for an AIM float in 2007/ 2008 as CEO Daniel Corby sets about creating one of the fastest growth businesses of the year

Daniel Corby the founder and CEO of the fast growing 118 Group is no stranger to high growth businesses – having been Sales Director at phones4u, the mobile phone retailer and Retail director at The Tanning Shop, the high street tanning salon chain, part of Bodycare International. Now the sights are set on grooming his latest brainchild, 118 Group for a float on the AIM market in 2007 / 2008 with the sole purpose of raising money to fund further acquisitions in the media and telecoms sectors.

118 Group was founded in 2005 and takes in various trading divisions, which includes interests in Directories, Advertising, Media, Publishing and Telecoms. The largest of the divisions is 118 trades, the UK’s leading directory service of tradespeople and businesses with checkable references. This particular business already has in excess of 40,000 members and the sights are set on further growth.

Other sectors in which 118 group operates are telecoms, with the fast growing business of connecting memorable and NGN (non geographic numbers) and publishing, which takes in Fido Local, a new local, advertising led magazine.

Speaking about grooming the business for an AIM float next year, founder and CEO, Daniel Corby said “118 Group is all about high margin, fast growth sectors, powered by telesales – our business has developed a number of high growth, high profit divisions and from September launches a new 400 seat call centre in Chelmer Village, Chelmsford, which will further fuel the growth of the group in readiness for the AIM float. We have taken steps already to groom the business” added Daniel, “including the appointment of a top tier audit and accountancy practice, the appointment of a non exec Chairman with PLC experience, and a general strengthening of internal practices, the hunt is now on for an experienced FD with AIM experience”
