A London Band Manager has an epiphany at a hairdressers and commits to right his eco-wrongs by rallying support to plant a forest.
[ClickPress, Wed Aug 16 2006] Davey Spens, a Band Manager and Advertising Executive from London, has started out on a mission to right his eco-wrongs by planting a forest in Cornwall, England.
A self-professed gas-guzzler, he found himself on a website that calculated Carbon Dioxide Creation after a chance discussion about the environment with a hairdresser near his office. The figure it produced stunned him, and the ensuing crisis of conscience propelled him to do something about it. He discovered that he needed to plant 594 trees to offset the poison he had created. With no land and no trees, this is exactly what he has set out to do.
Having set up a website (www.forestofdavey.co.uk) he placed small ads in local newspapers: Forest; Free to good home. Amazingly a Cornish Farmer saw an ad in the Western Morning News and responded, offering enough land to house this new Forest.
Davey is now trying to establish a group of green-hearted individuals who are willing to help him bring the dream to life. 24 people have all come forward to sponsor a sapling for £5. He is looking for 570 more.
His progress is charted at www.forestofdavey.co.uk
