Jo Farren, operations manager of David Lloyd Sudbury Hill, commented: "Waste King provides a swift, efficient and thorough service. The Waste King team are polite and helpful, with the work carried out within days of order.

"The whole service of collection - with manpower included - costs our business less than a standard skip. So it’s a win-win situation for us."

Waste King’s Glenn Currie explained: "Waste King’s uniformed and licensed staff are working with DLL Group operations managers, such as Jo, to remove waste materials from DLL’s clubs.

"This means that there are no skips on DLL Group’s premises. Moreover, DLL staff don’t have to lift or move heavy waste items.

"Our staff do all of that for them – and we are able to separate the waste into loads that can be recycled in an environmentally friendly way," he said. "If the waste had just been put into skips, the contents would have had to go to landfill projects whereas, now that Waste King staff can separate it into discrete types of waste, each of these types of waste can be re-cycled, thus placing less stress on our environment."

This news comes hard on the heels of Waste King’s work to help the well known health and fitness club, LA Fitness, refurbish some of its gyms in the London area while keeping the disposal of the waste materials created in the process as environmentally friendly and as cost effective as possible.

LA Fitness’ multi-million pound project involved Waste King in not only collecting and recycling materials from the LA Fitness gyms but also working with site managers at the gyms to develop Site Waste Management Plans (SWMP).

According to Waste King’s Glenn Currie: "SWMPs are intended to help contractors manage site waste more effectively, reducing potential harm to the environment and human health.

"They help to manage and reduce the amount of waste produced by construction projects, which means less waste goes to landfill. Other environmental benefits of SWMPs include less damage to the local environment, less fly-tipping, lower energy use and greater use of recycled materials."

This means that LA Fitness can account for how every piece of waste from this project has been dealt with.
