[ClickPress, Wed Aug 30 2006] Mellon Technologies, one of the largest Greek IT companies with a leading role in the electronic transactions market, announced today its considerable participation in projects regarding the migration of banks in Greece to the EMV standards developed by Europay, Mastercard and Visa. To-date, Mellon Technologies has delivered over 300,000 EMV smart cards (with orders of another 700,000 cards), more than 85,000 EMV-ready POS terminals, a significant number of ATMs and a multitude of personalization solutions.
Manos Perdikaris, Business Unit Manager at Mellon Technologies, said, “This step, essential in the efforts to decrease fraud, is also a challenge and an opportunity for Financial Institutions. Mellon Technologies having built significant know-how in the area of smart cards and the EMV standards, drives the market offering products, services, consulting, training and support to Financial Institutions, enabling them to turn this challenge into a source for differentiation and new services for cardholders.”
Already from 1998, Mellon Technologies in cooperation with Parousiasi Stores and National Bank of Greece has created the first loyalty scheme that was based on a credit card with chip. Today the company participates in the majority of EMV migration projects, offering smart cards, POS terminals, personalization systems and ATMs. National Bank of Greece, Eurobank, Emporiki Bank, Citibank and Egnatia Bank are among Mellon Technologies’ EMV customers.
Additionally, Mellon Technologies offers application development and customisation services, as on top of the increased security offered by EMV standards, smart cards represent an effective marketing tool that allows the incorporation of multiple applications, such as Loyalty.
