The 8th European Sandwich & Snack Show — Europe's major exhibition for professionals in the sandwich and snacking sector — will take place on 7-8 March 2007 in Paris. The trade show has established itself as the pointer to new trends in Europe and will give exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their very latest innovations. [ClickPress, Wed Sep 06 2006] The 8th European Sandwich & Snack Show — Europe's major exhibition for professionals in the sandwich and snacking sector — will take place on 7-8 March 2007 in Paris. The trade show has established itself as the pointer to new trends in Europe and will give exhibitors the opportunity to showcase their very latest innovations. In 2006, three trends came to the fore: hot snacks (sandwiches, soups, etc.), desserts (fruit salads, stewed fruit, etc.), and mini-formats (cubes, brochettes, etc.).
Since 2000, the show has been increasingly successful and has established itself as the single European event exclusively dedicated to the snack-food sector. In 2006, 6,700 visitors from 15 different countries (a rise of 22% on 2005) came to meet the 225 exhibitors gathered at the show. In 2007, the 3,000m² of exhibition space will bring together European manufacturers in food processing, packaging and consumables, as well as creators of catering concepts and suppliers of equipment. It will be the opportunity for participants to make concrete approaches to a range of players across all distribution channels (fast food outlets, large specialised stores, retail commerce, canteens, and mobile catering).
According to a study by Gira Foodservice, carried out for the trade show’s organisers, the sandwich is the product that remains the driving force of the snacks market and of food consumption on the move. The classic recipes still dominate — based on cold meats, chicken and cheese — but, at the same time, there has been an increase in seafood, exotic and ethnic recipes, as well as vegetable and marinade compositions, with the baguette still in the lead (65%). There has also been a steady rise in the market for industrially produced sandwiches. The average price of sandwiches, however, has been going up continuously, which indicates that the sandwich is moving upmarket.
As a testimony to recent market developments, the European Sandwich & Snack Show 2007 will offer around 10 conferences, round tables and events on key themes, with the participation of numerous industry professionals from the sector. The 7th Délifrance Sandwich World Cup will take place on 7 March 2007. It will bring together 12 finalists, all of them catering professionals, from across the world.
