Latest edition of Samsung Screen Survey to be presented at 2nd annual conference


The Samsung Screen Survey is now the most comprehensive measure of UK retail screen media usage. The results of the latest survey will be presented at the 2nd annual conference of The Screen Association on 10 Oct 2006


[ClickPress, Tue Sep 26 2006] The results of the fifth edition of the Samsung Screen Survey will be publicly presented for the fist time at the 2nd annual conference of The Screen Association (Tuesday 10 October 2006, BT Tower, London). The survey, widely regarded as the most comprehensive and reliable measure of screen usage within the UK retail sector, is issued quarterly, and is now in it’s fifth edition

Each phase of the Samsung Screen Survey produces an increasingly accurate impression of the number, type, and usage of screens in the UK retail sector. Since the first survey, the number of screens in use has increased significantly, and the survey indicates to what extent this growth is likely to continue. The findings will be of interest to a wide range of key decision makers within the UK retail sector, primarily those with an interest in store design, store marketing, customer communications or retail operations. However, many others can also benefit, such as those working for manufacturers or suppliers of UK retailers in a POS or merchandising role.

The Samsung Screen Survey has become increasingly detailed with each installment. It now includes data on screen usage (broken down by retail sector), a measure of interactivity, screen types, funding sources, content delivery, retailer attitude, and future plans for the technology. With each additional phase of the survey, contributing parties are becoming more familiar with its value, and are increasingly requesting copies for internal use. This demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to supporting and promoting the growth (and understanding) of this rapidly emerging medium.

The survey will form only one part of the conference agenda which is designed to review of progress in the industry, and the development of a roadmap for progressing standards and guidelines which will stimulate industry growth.

Several contributors will offer a balanced and highly informed view of the current position, and provide a platform for discussion of the way forward. Speakers will include senior representatives from companies such as Ipsos Mori, ABC Electronic, Vizeum, Samsung and ShopperCentric. These presentations will be followed by a networking session to further consider the issues raised.

The event provides an excellent opportunity for attendees to review the direction of the industry with a view to arriving at a consensus seen by many to be key to industry progress. These issues, which include the challenge of developing a viable measurement and validation model for network performance, are discussed at length in a recent White Paper authored by The Screen, and the October conference will build upon the foundations of this document.
