[ClickPress, Fri Oct 06 2006] Kimyon Zari is a woman who exhibits a control in response to life's challenges. This year, she was recognized. In a much celebrated announcement, The America Heart Association recently announced Kimyon Zari as their new regional spokesperson.
Zari was chosen from a group of several individuals who expressed interest in becoming a regional spokesperson for the renowned organization. She was selected based on her own personal battle and triumph of heart disease, her professional poise, confidence, and demonstrated ability to communicate the background, history and goals of the American Heart Association.
Responsibilities for regional spokesperson for The American Heart Association include:
* Publicly addressing heart-health issues affecting men and women
* Participating in interviews on heart-health topics
* Making appearances on behalf of the AHA throughout the eastern region of the United States
Zari, a 45 year-old woman, began noticing her first signs of heart disease in 2001. She recalls perspiring heavily and feeling faint as she was making a bed. The symptoms were out of the ordinary for the health-conscious, Zari.
"I was the picture of health. I ate healthy, exercised and visited my doctor regularly. But genetics were against me, stated Kimyon Zari. "Heart disease had affected a few of my relatives on my father’s side of the family, including my grandmother who died of a massive heart attack. Since, I lived a healthy life, I didn't feel like I was a candidate for heart disease myself." Kimyon attributes her relationship with God, education, a healthy diet, and exercise for controlling her heart disease.
She continues to share an appreciation for the opportunity and responsibility as the regional spokesperson for The American Heart Association. "Having open heart surgery changed my whole life in a major way. I'm very proud to be the regional spokesperson for The American Heart Association," said Zari. "I have discovered that there are many people who were healthy by all standards, but lives were completely turned around by this silent killer. If I could sum all of this up in a theme I guess I would say, I'm like a maverick; I'm dancing to my own music."
