[ClickPress, Mon Oct 09 2006] Plant-A-Tree-Today, or the PATT Foundation is proud to announce its FIRST ANNIVERSARY birthday on November 2. PATT will mark the occasion by officially launching its emission offsetting vehicle, Carbon Free.

A year has passed since the PATT Foundation was formed in 2005 with its mission to react to problems caused by the massive and increasing levels of deforestation worldwide, raise awareness of environmental issues and the role forests play, take action against climate change, educate children on these issues and to PLANT MORE TREES.

A UK-registered non profit organisation on its way to attaining full charity status in the United Kingdom, PATT works within Asia to campaign for better environmental practices, take action against climate change, implement small to medium tree planting projects as well as provide funding for partner projects, set up school tree nurseries and provide environmental education, and fund community development projects in rural communities centred on tree planting and reforestation. PATT is proud that organisations as diverse as XL Results Foundation, Catalyst Communications UK, the New International School of Thailand (NIST), Syngenta Crop Protection Ltd and the Forest Research Restoration Unit (FORRU) of Chiang Mai University have supported the foundation and various projects. Shortly, PATT expects to join forces with Thailand’s acclaimed Population and Community Development Association (PDA) on sustainable development projects in rural villages.

The event marks the day PATT was registered as a not for profit foundation in the UK on November 2, 2005. Since then PATT has experienced immense support and undertaken a number of projects within Thailand. PATT’s scope of works include the restoration of 20 rai (8 acres) of native forest national park land in northern Thailand, the set up of school nurseries, a community tree planting day with children living with HIV, an urban forestry project with a major corporation, and a donation and planting of trees to an orphanage in western Thailand near the Myanmar border.

In line with PATT’s commitment to take action against climate change, the foundation has developed a carbon emission offsetting program which allows one to donate to plant trees, through PATT, that will absorb the equivalent amount of carbon dioxide actions produce. This is Carbon Free. The programme runs online and provides many options for offsetting including your life with a Carbon Life Credit, your lifestyle for 1 year, flights and cars, even your company or business. By raising awareness of climate change and providing an easy and simple means to take action, PATT aims to give ordinary people the knowledge and tools to make a difference on a personal level.

PATT is teaming up with XL Results Foundation's monthly momentum night to coordinate an event to celebrate the occasion. Roger Hamilton, Asia's leading wealth consultant has been invited to speak on the night, which will combine the launch of Carbon Free and presentation, the introduction of PATT trustees and special guests, networking opportunities and the attempt to raise enough funds for the event itself to be Carbon Free.

Details of the event are as follows:

Time: 19:00 - 22:00
Location: Novotel Bangkok, Siam Square, 4th Floor Gallery
Catering: Finger food and drinks will be served
