Councilwoman battles Public Safety layoffs

[ClickPress, Thu Jun 09 2005] Jacksonville, Fl., -- Councilwoman Johnson has introduced a resolution strongly encouraging the Mayor to maintain adequate budgetary funding to prevent the loss of local Law Enforcement and Fire and Rescue personnel. Councilwoman Johnson stated "The one thing I have learned as a councilwoman and as a citizen is that you don't mess with a citizens safety, medical needs through rescue, or property through the fire department when you need the police or fire department you just want them to be there".

The resolution will be introduced before the full council on June 14, 2005, at the council’s regularly scheduled meeting.
