She was selected to the 1998 People Magazine 50 Most Beautiful People list, one of only two athletes to make list (the other is our own Jan-Michael Gambill). At the age of 14, she became the youngest player to compete and win in the Fed Cup (first tie of 1996), helping Russia defeat Sweden 3-0 . In Juniors, she ended 1995 as the ITF Junior World Champion No. 1 ranked player.

Martina Hingis returns to the court with the New York Buzz this year. This is the third WTT season for Hingis who was named the 2005 WTT Finals MVP. Hingis, a former World No. 1 in both singles and doubles, has a total of 15 career Grand Slam titles (5 singles, 9 doubles, 1 mixed).
