Blackwell’s English-Language Chinese Journals Receive Top Accolade
Two of the Five Top Science & Technology Journals in China from Blackwell
[ClickPress, Thu Oct 26 2006] World leading society publisher Blackwell Publishing is pleased to announce that two of its Chinese journals have gained entry into the Top Five Chinese Science and Technology journals for 2006 by the prestigious Chinese Association for Science and Technology.
Blackwell has seen a steady growth in its Chinese journal list – particularly over the last three years, and this award gives due recognition to the publisher’s ongoing commitment to publish top quality Asian research.
Of the 417 journals administered by the Chinese Association for Science and Technology, Acta Pharmacologica Sinica and the Journal of Integrative Plant Biology were both granted the Category A award for being among the Top 5 Chinese Science & Technology Journals for 2006.
The Evaluation Committee conferred scores (based on a total of 170) to all the 106 journals competing in Category A based on three broad categories, namely Publication Factor, Development Factor and Other Factors. Developmental factors such as frequency of citation, Impact Factor rating, and editorial quality were evaluated. The Committee also looked at factors within the journals’ development such as its project plan, support offered by its respective institute and the regulation and policy. Other factors including the ratio of overseas papers within each journal and the quality of society inspection were also taken into consideration.
Both journals came out tops in the evaluation process and were conferred the prominent award in September this year.
Editor of Acta Pharmacologica Sinica – Professor Kai-Xian Chen – noted, “Our mission to take Acta Pharmacologica Sinica to a global audience began when the journal was listed as an English international journal in 2000. I am pleased to say that the decision made to publish the journal with Blackwell in January 2005 has proved a wise one.”
