EDITOR OF EMERALD’S LIBRARY HI TECH JOURNAL

Editor of Emerald Group Publishing’s peer-reviewed journal Library Hi Tech, Dr. Michael Seadle, was elected on Wednesday October 18, 2006, as the new Director of Humboldt University’s Institute of Library and Information Sciences, Berlin’s oldest university. He is the first American to hold this position and he is the first to hold the highest rank of full (“W3”) Professor at the Institute. The Krupp Foundation provided funding for this professorship.

[ClickPress, Thu Oct 26 2006] Humboldt brought Seadle to Berlin to create an active digital library research and teaching program on the model of the School of Information at the University of Michigan. During his eight years at Michigan State University Seadle was principal investigator or co-principal investigator for $5.5 million in grants.

Seadle received his doctorate at the University of Chicago in 1977, and his Masters in Information Science from the University of Michigan in 1997, and his BA from Earlham College in 1972. He has held positions at the University of Chicago, Eastern Michigan University, Cornell University, and Michigan State University, as well as at several commercial firms.
