How Does a Former Theology Student end up as the Director of Operations for La Casa Universal? Read

[ClickPress, Mon Oct 30 2006] Ashia Mendez was recently named Director of Operations, Latino Division for La Casa Universal, a subdivision of Equity Concepts Inc. La Casa Universal specializes in educating members of the Hispanic community and providing them with the appropriate mortgage loan to best suit their needs.

Ashia Mendez originates from the Dominican Republic and immigrated to the US when she was 6-years-old. She managed to learn English without any accent, and being a Roe-Dyelandah, that’s hard to do!

Ashia is the second in her family to graduate from a US college. She graduated from Assumption College in 2005 with Cum Laude honors majoring in global studies with a minor in theology.

Ashia ended up at Equity Concepts Inc. as a fluke. She went to her college job fair last minute and ended up taking a position as a loan officer.

“I had intended to go to law school, but I saw this as a good opportunity with a really innovative company that was committed to its employees,” says Ashia.
Ashia was a loan officer for a little under a year before La Casa Universal opened its doors. Immediately, she was offered the position as Director of Operations for the Latino Division and as they say, the rest is history.

Ashia remains committed to La Casa’s philosophy in guiding members of the Hispanic community in their personal and financial goals. Ashia hires only bilingual staff and maintains only Spanish radio, newspaper, and television ads on local Spanish-speaking stations. Furthermore, Ashia is dedicated to upholding La Casa’s strong presence within the Hispanic community by sponsoring local youth sports teams, church bulletins, and giveaways at local Latino cultural events and festivals.

As for future plans? Ashia says that she “always wanted to be a CIA intelligence expert,” but that her path changed a bit.
“I plan on sticking around for quite a while,” she says, “It's a far stretch from the CIA but I can’t imagine being in another field.”
