Advertising & Marketing: Industry’s first directory of digital signage networks

Industry’s first directory of digital signage networks

The Screen Association has published the industry’s first source of data on digital signage networks. It will be of considerable interest to planners looking to assess the usefulness of a rapidly growing medium

[ClickPress, Tue Nov 14 2006] The Screen Association has launched the first directory of UK-based digital signage networks that take 3rd party paid advertising. The publication offers media planners a fully-indexed source of network details and contact information for over 60 networks, and is available as a single print edition, PDF or subscription.

Digital signage (screen media) is a powerful marketing medium. With an estimated 40,000 screens, claiming 200million/month footfall in prime retail and other out-of-home locations across the UK alone, it has obvious potential as an alternative advertising medium to the highly fragmented conventional broadcast channels. However, screen media has rarely been included in the media schedules of most planners, mainly because of the lack of available data. This initiative by the Screen Association is an important step towards giving planners a means of assessing the role a network can play in advertising schedules.

The Directory is the latest addition to The Screen’s rapidly growing library. Other resources available from the Screen Association include a recent White Paper, which discusses a standardised way of assessing the effectiveness of digital signage as an advertising medium, and an Industry Agenda which is designed as a framework for growth for the screen media industry. This agenda was presented and debated at the 2nd annual conference, on 10 October 2006. The Screen also works in association with Samsung and ShopperCentric on the development of regular market research reports covering key areas such as screen deployments and customer reaction.

“Our mission is to support industry growth by encouraging an exchange of views and the sharing of information,” said James Henry of The Screen. “This directory is just one aspect of our activities, and it will be updated regularly.”

The directory is available in the following forms:
Print Edition: Released November, February, May: £75.00 per copy. Delivery by post.
PDF: Released monthly: £50.00 per copy (plus £8.75 VAT for UK residents)
Subscription: Includes print editions (November, February, May) and interim PDF versions: £240 per year (plus £28.00 attributable VAT for UK residents). Delivery of print edition by post. Screen members receive the directory for free.

The Screen
