[ClickPress, Thu Nov 16 2006] The Mobile Office trade show will be held from 5 to 7 December 2006, at the Palais des Congrès in Paris. Over 7,500 visitors and 200 exhibitors are expected at the event. The trade show, which is being held for the sixth time, focuses on corporate mobile solutions. It is organised around 11 thematic routes enabling visitors to rapidly identify, on the floor plan, which exhibitors they want to see. Suzan DelBene, the Corporate Vice President of Marketing, Mobile and Embedded Devices Division at Microsoft, will be attending the event.

Mobile Office has become the leading event for corporate mobile solutions. The trade show presents all aspects of mobile technology, including terminals, networks, traceability, applications and machine-to-machine technology.

Since its launch in 2001, the number of exhibitors at Mobile Office has increased threefold and the number of visitors has doubled. This year, 200 exhibitors will present visiting companies with efficient mobile solutions for their roaming employees. Half of the visitors to Mobile Office come with a project in full roll-out phase, whereas the other half will be looking for mobile solutions for the first time.

“An increasing number of small and medium-sized companies are visiting the trade show, the sign of a mature market,” explains Stéphan Saraf, director of the trade show. “They represented 63% of the total number of visitors in 2005, compared with 59% in 2004. They now know that they can acquire a solution to match their requirements for a budget of less than €10,000. However, major accounts have not been forgotten. They represent a third of the visitors, half of which invest over €200,000 in their mobility project.”

In 2002, Mobile Office became a WiFi network forerunner by opening a hot spot at the Palais des Congrès in Paris, making it the first cross-disciplinary tradeshow to present this technology. This year at the event, local authorities and companies will be able to visit WiFi and Wimax operators, host providers of hot spots and security solutions, and manufacturers of the tools that operate local wireless networks.

According to market research firm IDC, the global RFID chip market will amount to $751 million in 2006 and should increase further in coming years to achieve a predicted turnover of $3 billion by 2010. The Mobile Resources Traceability route will feature RFID chips prominently. Visitors can find everything they need to comply with regulations and meet their customers' demands for reactivity and security.

Interactive services, games, news and marketing operations are all deployed through service and content bundles for PDAs and smartphones. The Mobile Marketing route is aimed at marketing, sales or communication directors and direct marketing, event marketing or advertising agencies. It focuses on mobile services as well as content and brings together all the players in the sector.

Roaming employees spend increasing amounts of time in their vehicle. Newly developed tools can turn vehicles into communication platforms that can be used to optimise time spent on business trips and to enable employees to stay in touch with their company while travelling. In less than three years, stand-alone GPS systems have reached the threshold of one million units sold. In comparison, digital cameras took seven years to reach this level, and MP3 players took six years (source GfK). The Road Mobile Office route brings together a wide range of related technologies, including embedded vehicle IT, fleet tracking by satellite, navigation systems and communication systems.

Today, machine-to-machine technology is becoming increasingly important. Experts predict that this market will have increased tenfold by 2010. In parallel with Mobile Office, a related event will also be held at the same dates and location – the M2M Forum – which will focus on communication and interaction between objects, information feedback, real-time action triggering and remote management. These issues will be considered at conferences and at an exhibition. All Mobile Office visitors will receive an entry pass for the M2M Forum.

Mobile Office is also organising several events. The Expert Workshops will involve demonstrations to help visitors gain a better understanding of the functional scope of exhibitors' mobile solutions. The third edition of the Mobility Guide will also be distributed free-of-charge to all visitors.

Another key event, the Mobility Trophies, will give awards to the companies that have rolled out the most innovative and original mobile solutions. On 5 December, Cesmo will present the results of its 2006 Mobility Barometer.

Finally, a special Mobile Monday evening (the benchmark event for the mobile technology community) will be specially renamed Mobile Wednesday for the occasion. It will be held on Wednesday 6 December 2006, from 6.30pm, at the Concorde Lafayette Hotel in Paris.
