Magellan Ingenierie’s TourSolver 4 gets you on the right track

Magellan Ingenierie, the specialist in fleet-management technology, has launched Version 4 of its TourSolver software – a route planning and scheduling solution, which further reduces planning time and fuel costs.

[ClickPress, Fri Nov 17 2006] Magellan Ingenierie, the specialist in fleet-management technology, has launched Version 4 of its TourSolver software – a route planning and scheduling solution, which further reduces planning time and fuel costs. The software lowers logistics costs for companies in a wide range of sectors (including press wholesale, healthcare, vending, BtoB services, the food industry and manufacturing). Magellan Ingenierie will attend the MOBILE OFFICE trade show in Paris, France, from 5 to 7 December 2006.

TourSolver 4 includes a new, activity-focused approach that is ideally suited to maintenance, operational services and after-sales services staff. In response to client and market feedback, Magellan Ingenierie has expanded TourSolver’s functionalities to take into account industries with more complicated routing problems. Maintenance and after-sales services technicians will particularly benefit from the ability to manage long site visits spanning several days, as well as the automatic incorporation of overnight stays based on the distance between sites.

TourSolver already incorporated legal driving-time requirements for road transportation companies. TourSolver 4 offers improved transport and logistics features. These new features include Delivery-Pick-Up for managing delivery and collection activities as part of the same route, and Multiple Depot Management, which makes it possible to distinguish between a company's address, the sites of its various warehouses and the drivers’ home addresses.

TourSolver can also handle the most complex journey scenarios and automatically takes into account the location of the closest warehouses for each journey. There is also a choice of road travel options, including the use of main roads as a priority or the avoidance of toll roads. Less obvious, but just as important, Magellan Ingenierie has updated the route-calculation engine in TourSolver 4. This new technology guarantees better use of the computer's memory, and makes it possible to optimise routes over larger areas, covering several countries and even Europe as a whole.

TourSolver helps companies significantly reduce their logistical costs and operate more efficiently overall. Major savings and benefits include reducing the distance driven and the number of resources used, as well as making better use of working time while considerably improving customer service.

TourSolver is a software package used in combination with Microsoft MapPoint or MapInfo Professional. TourSolver is also available as a developer kit (TourSolver Developer Kit).
