The Sanctification of Violence - Judaism, Christianity and Islam: Who is Closest to Whom?
NEW YORK –The Center for Religious Inquiry™ at St. Bartholomew’s Church will present “The Sanctification of Violence,” a short course, led by Rabbi Reuven Firestone, Ph.D., who will discuss the similarities between Judaism, Christianity and Islam on Monday, December 11 and Tuesday, December 12. Both evenings begin at 6:30pm and run through 9pm.

On Monday, December 11, Firestone will examine how people needed to make the killing of human beings into sacred acts. On Tuesday, December 12, Firestone will discuss how Judaism, Christianity and Islam overlap ideologically--and where they differ.
Firestone, who earned his doctorate in Islamic studies at New York University, is acknowledged by Muslims and Jews as one of he most perceptive observers of Islam. He teaches at the Hebrew Union College in Los Angeles.
CRI is an interreligious adult education program, directed by Rabbi Leonard A. Schoolman. CRI courses and lectures are presented as an opportunity for religious seekers—of any background or affiliation—to learn in an open and welcoming environment.
