Trinity Academy Of Raleigh Releases Podcast On Haiti Relief Efforts

Dr. Robert Littlejohn, head of school at Trinity Academy of Raleigh (www.trinityacademy.com), a preK-12 college preparatory school community located in north Raleigh, has announced the release of a podcast discussing the school’s "Hoodies for Haiti" fundraiser. "Hoodies for Haiti" raised $2,170 for Haiti earthquake relief during a three-day fundraiser, planned and executed by Trinity upper school students. During the fundraiser, students who donated money for Haiti relief were able to wear jeans and sweatshirts rather than their school uniforms. The money raised went to Joy In Hope, a nonprofit organization located in Jacmel, Haiti, and provided the equivalent of $100,000 worth of medical supplies purchased at discounted prices. - "Hoodies for Haiti" was inspired by the experience of Trinity exchange student Claire Hao, who lived in China during the 2008 Sichuan earthquake and wanted to provide aid to those in Haiti suffering from the same devastation she witnessed. "Hoodies for Haiti" was planned after Hao spoke with Courtney Stoner, a fellow student whose family donates time to Joy In Hope. The podcast features Hao, Stoner and Stoner’s mother, Kris Stoner, discussing the work that went into the fundraiser, their expectations, how the money was used and the importance of students engaging in such efforts to provide aid.
