Low Carbon Building Programme Early Closure - comment from Nu-Heat

[ClickPress, Tue May 25 2010] The news about the early closure of Low Carbon Building Programme (LCBP) prompted a disappointed but determined response in the renewables industry.

‘It seems a shame that the new coalition government’s spending cuts have impacted on the drive towards greater energy efficiency through grant funding,’ says Adrian Troop, Sales & Marketing Director for Nu-Heat Underfloor and Renewables. ‘If we’re going to meet targets set for 2020, it’s now even more crucial that the proposed Renewable Heat Incentive scheme is implemented as planned next April.’

DECC’s savings target of £85m, although much less of a requirement than other programmes, means that the LCBP – with an immediate £3m cut – has been closed and no new applications will be accepted. Existing grants will be honoured as will applications received before the announcement. This will not affect customers that have already received offer letters or those with a valid application.
