The ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur’ award recognizes overseas Chinese who have returned to China and made significant contributions to China’s development. By calling attention to the importance of these contributions, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office seeks to drive increased investment and business activity by returnees.

Yao was moved by the award and expressed his appreciation: “As an overseas Chinese, my roots are in China and it has always been close to my heart. I believe that overseas Chinese are in a unique position to act as a bridge between China and the world, and this was a primary reason why I returned to Shanghai to found SmithStreetSolutions.
