A series of free seminars to help companies in the East Midlands gear up for the green revolution have been organised over the next month.

The free seminars have been designed to support East Midlands’ construction companies, which are facing unprecedented pressures with both the economic downturn and the drive towards greener buildings and carbon reduction.

Understanding and adapting to increased environmental standards in building controls and new planning guidance is critical to the future success of construction companies.

To help keep East Midlands companies competitive and ahead of the sustainability curve, a series of free seminars and case studies based on ‘live’ East Midlands sites will be running next month.

Industry leaders in the fields of waste management, energy, water management and master planning have been developing best practice guidance specifically aimed at the region’s small and medium sized construction businesses.

They will present their findings at three, free half-day seminars where local companies can discuss and learn how to apply that best practice to their own businesses.

The seminars take place on:

• Thursday 24th June at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Nottingham 2pm - 5pm.

• Friday 25th June at Loughborough Innovation Centre from 10am - 1pm.

• Tuesday 29th June at the Portfolio Centre, University of Northampton from 10am - 1pm.

The events, which are being supported by East Midlands Development Agency and organised by West Northamptonshire Development Corporation and the University of Northampton, are free to attend and will include lunch and the opportunity to network with colleagues and advisors.

To attend any of the seminars e-mail Karin.Ferngren@northampton.ac.uk, indicating which event you would like to go to, or for further details contact WNDC regeneration manager Paul Quinn on 01604 586614.
