Australian Cricket fans encouraged to join Australian Cricket Association.

Brisbane – Today the ceo of Pirate International Media announced that a new website www.AustralianCricketAssociation.com has been created and has begun taking applications for member of a new public cricket fan club.

[ClickPress, Sun Dec 31 2006] Pirate International Media established the website to create, for the first time, a cricket supporters home site. Greg Rogers, the ceo of Pirate Media, said today “The cricket authorities and clubs have their own websites which certainly present a huge range of information. Our aim was to create a web site where the fans, amateur players and club members can post their views and receive the information that major media groups do not always have space to provide.”

The first phase with Australian Cricket Association is to provide cricket information such as links to cricket websites and RSS news feeds from around the world. Once the basics are completed, the members database will start to allocate numbers to members so that they can log in.

There is no cost and there is no obligation to register. The site is a resource for fans and they can contribute as much as they want. A blog and a forum provide the means for fans to have a say. Even the Barmy Army may want to join to post reports of their adventures in Australia during the current Ashes Test Series.

Pirate International Media ( www.PirateInternational.com ) intends to co-operate with the clubs and Cricket Australia ( The governing body of cricket in Australia ) to ensure that the Australian Cricket Association is recognised as a supporters body and given access to up to date information. “After all, the fans are a part of the cricket world.”

The new site is live now and open for business. Greg Rogers invites the public to visit the site and to send ideas or information to info@AustralianCricketAssociation.com. On every day since the site started last week, traffic has increased as word spread that there is a dedicated cricket fan website. Eventually the site will establish State branches to hand over editorial control to local members.

Once the membership has built up there will be sufficient momentum to enable buying power to provide bulk discounts on cricket supplies and travel to cricket through an on line shop for members. The site, AustralianCricketAssociation.com is not a part of the cricket establishment run by Cricket Australia or Publishing & Broadcasting Limited. ( PBL ). It is a cricket fan site and it is live now.
