Award Winning Inspirational Book Endorsed by Comedic Legend Phyllis Diller
Discouraged? Need a laughter break? Then "Hugs, Hope, and Peanut Butter" is the book for you!
[ClickPress, Sat Jan 13 2007] Author Marsha Jordan, also known as "The Peanut Butter Queen," believes that hope, joy, and love are sticky -- like peanut butter. "Spread them around," she says, "and you can't help but get some on yourself too."
Jordan, who created the HUGS and HOPE Foundation for critically ill children, has released her new book, HUGS, HOPE, and PEANUT BUTTER, a collection of inspirational essays, written from a humorous point of view. In Erma Bombeck style, the book combines hope with humor and shares hilarious accounts of everyday life from car accidents, in-laws, and a day in the emergency room, to wild bears, pet pigs, and aging without grace.
HUGS, HOPE, and PEANUT BUTTER received honorable mention in the World's Funniest Humor Contest as well as Parent to Parent's "Best of the Best" award .
With it's life lessons and nuggets of practical wisdom, as well as its laugh-out-loud stories taken from the author's life, the book has received rave reviews. However, Jordan says the greatest honor she's received is the hand-written note of praise from the legendary Phyllis Diller. Diller, recognized as the leading female comic of all time, told Jordan her book is "totally charming."
"Coming from the queen of comedy," said Jordan, "that's quite a compliment."
HUGS, HOPE, and PEANUT BUTTER has been called riotously funny and "un-put-down-able," but the book has a more serious side too. Written from the author's own experience of living with chronic illness and pain, the book addresses some tough subjects like why bad things happen to good people. Jordan shares her ten tips for beating depression, an illness she's battled most of her life.
What makes this book unique is that's it's illustrated with over 40 drawings created by children who are battling for life. Jordan came to know the children through a non-profit charity she created for sick kids called The HUGS and HOPE Foundation.( www.hugsandhope.org ) The simple goal of the organization is to share love with sick kids and to create smiles for children who often have little to smile about.
Reviewer Lynn Chapman says the book and it's illustrations are appropriate for "anyone who has ever been discouraged, disappointed, or just plain tired." And isn't that EVERYone? Vicky DeCoster (author of Wacky Womanhood) says, "It's a fabulous compilation of essays that will touch your soul with both laughter and tears." Dr. C. Goode of The Academy for Coaching Parents International says the book " uplifts your faith and lightens your day." Syndicated columnist Lisa Barker (jellymom.com) wrote ""You'll soon be laughing out loud and won't want to put this book down!" And Donna Wyland, with the Foundation of Hope, called it "a must read."
Some chapter titles include, "Limburger Attitude," "Is Broccoli Hazardous?" and "Life in the Manure Pile." Jordan also recounts such escapades as her camping adventures, her search for the perfect purse, and a horrifying experience with a new magnifying mirror.
Profits from the book's sale benefit the sick children served by the HUGS and HOPE Foundation.

BIO: A disabled grandmother, speaker, and shower singer, Marsha Jordan began her writing career on the bathroom walls of St. Joseph's Catholic Elementary School. Now her writing is in restrooms across the country! Marsha lives in the north woods of Wisconsin with her rocket scientist husband, "Hunky Magoo ." (She calls him H.M. for short, which he likes to think stands for "His Majesty.") They share their empty nest with a badly behaved, brain-damaged toy poodle, King Louie, who rules the household with an iron paw.
After her grandson was badly burned in the Fall of 2000, Jordan created The HUGS and HOPE Foundation, a nonprofit charity devoted to cheering critically ill and injured children.
She's received many awards for her work with children, and appeared on WGN television's Unsung Heroes program. She was featured on Billy Graham's radio program, The Hour of Decision and in "ROSIE," "Ladies Home Journal," and "Lady Ingenuity" magazines.
Jordan's devotionals and stories have been published in anthologies, including "A Cup of Comfort."
