DirectRooms – A Summer of the Dutch Theatre Festival in Amsterdam between 2 and 12 September 2010
The Dutch theatre season reaches its climax and begins its new season during the Dutch Theatre Festival. Players from around the world will assemble in Amsterdam between the 2nd and 12th September in a celebration and exhibition of the best shows over the last year.
[ClickPress, Mon Aug 02 2010] The festival will feature ten of the best-voted performances of the year and will give audiences another chance to sample some quality productions. Alongside the main event, which is voted on by the public, there is also a series of fringe events and acting master classes, lectures and discussions about the world of theatre.
The occasion is a chance for the Dutch theatre to congratulate and recognise the worthy efforts that have been put in over the last year with a series of awards and for the first time will include the Gouden Krekel (Golden Cricket) Award for children’s theatre.
The price of tickets for the shows range between €10 to €27 and the programme of events includes ‘Eleven Minutes’, at the Stadsschouwburg, which examines the world of prostitution, and ‘Nik #2, the alter ego of Nik van dan Berg’ at the Theatre Bellevue.
‘Branden’ will be performed at the Stadsschouwburg, Otaku and ‘1: Songs’, a tragic and violent musical, will be performed at the Theatre Bellevue.
If you are looking around for hotels, Amsterdam has plenty of rooms to suit all purses and with a good public transport system travelling around the city to visit venues and events such as the Dutch Theatre Festival is straightforward.
