DIHRD Joins Hands with TANMIA to Identify UAE National Students for HR Roles
Nearly 100 Students to be selected from Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and UAE University
[ClickPress, Wed Jan 24 2007] The Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD) today announced it has been commissioned by the National Human Resource Development and Employment Authority (TANMIA) to help identify and select UAE national students with the potential of handling managerial and supervisory positions.
Based on competency assessments and a contest that will be conducted in March during Career Fair 2007, TANMIA and DIHRD will shortlist up to 100 students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University and the UAE University.
According to an agreement with TANMIA, DIHRD will design and conduct the competency based assessments, and provide TANMIA with detailed feedback reports. Additionally, it will also select the material for testing national students at the Career Fair 2007. DIHRD will form part of the judging panel at this contest.
Mohammed Jasim, CEO of DIHRD said: “People are vital to the vision of this country. And, DIHRD is committed to the advancement of leadership among UAE nationals. Given the rapidly evolving economic climate, it is obvious we need to become even more innovative in developing new human resources. Through our initiative with TANMIA, we will seek to identify highly effective HR personnel to work hand in hand with business line leaders.”
DIHRD has proposed the evaluation of UAE national students on the basis of four core competencies: communications, problem-solving and decision-making, leadership, and results orientation. Students will be required to participate in exercises comprising personality profiles, role play, group discussions, case study analysis, delivering presentations, and an ability test.
Established in 2003, DIHRD aims to support Dubai’s vision in assisting both organizations individuals to achieve performance excellence through the provision of high-quality training programs, conferences, and consultancy services.
