Betting Update; Chelsea v Nottingham Forest with the bookmakers making Chelsea their 3/20 favourites
The fourth round of the FA Cup throws up yet another potential banana skin for Chelsea as League One outfit Nottingham Forest make the trip to Stamford Bridge.
[ClickPress, Fri Jan 26 2007] In recent weeks Macclesfield Town (6-1) and Wycombe Wanderers (4-0) have been ruthlessly dispatched in cup fixtures at the Bridge and quickly quashed any chance of a giant killing. Add in the Blues' 4-0 mauling of Wigan Athletic and the supposed "club in crisis" have struck 14 goals in their last three home games.
Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest sit in third place in League One, level on points with the two side immediately above them. Forest arrive in west London on the back of three consecutive clean sheets which began in their third round tie against Charlton Athletic. Prior to meeting Premiership opposition, the two times European champions overcame non league opposition in Yeading and Salisbury City to remain in the competition beyond Christmas.
It has been 12 years since Chelsea were lasted ousted from the FA Cup by lower opposition when Millwall drew 0-0 at the Bridge before winning 5-4 on penalties back at the New Den.
Nottingham Forest have won just six FA Cup games over the last 10 years, of which three have come against teams outside the Football League. The last three seasons has seen Forest exit against Sheffield United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chester City, each time by a 3-0 scoreline.
The sides last met in January 2000 when Chelsea again immediately preceded Forest out of the hat for the fourth round of the FA Cup. Chelsea won 2-0 on that day and of the three occasions that the teams have been paired in domestic cup competitions it has been the Londoners that have won through every time.
After scoring in midweek, Andrei Shevchenko is likely to get another run out on Sunday and is well worth backing to open the scoring. Five of the Ukrainian's eight goals in his Chelsea career have come outside of the Premiership and should be boosted by his midweek double against Wycombe.
Recommended Bets (2pts): First Goalscorer: Shevchenko
