DIHRD Hosts Productivity Improvement Programme for Senior Executives and Officers
The Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD) today concluded a three-day Productivity Improvement Programme (PIP), a widely practiced course aimed at reinventing organizational governance in both the private and government sectors.
[ClickPress, Sun Feb 04 2007] The Dubai Institute for Human Resource Development (DIHRD) today concluded a three-day Productivity Improvement Programme (PIP), a widely practiced course aimed at reinventing organizational governance in both the private and government sectors.
The programme, which has delivered successful outcomes around the world for more than quarter of a century, brought together managers, heads of government departments, specialists and senior officers to acquire a greater understanding of techniques to enhance efficiency, effectiveness and equity, amidst competing demands between departments and levels of management in their organisations.
Mohammed Jassim, CEO of DIHRD, said: “Local organisations must learn the best way to address the very root of the problems that constrain them from consistently delivering quality service to their customers.
“The programme focuses on four interlinked areas - the provision of optimal client services, balancing outputs with expenditures, capacity building, and establishing benchmarks for quality of service.”
PIP has proved highly effective in the Middle East since 1997, across 28 major companies, banks and government departments such as Dubai Ports Authority, Libya’s Ras Lanouf Oil and Gas Processing Company, Bahrain National Gas Company (BANAGAS), and the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Bahrain.
The Productivity Improvement Programme was led by Dr. Akbar Jaafari, training specialist and consultant to leading regional and international companies and organizations. Jaafari holds a doctorate in management and economics from the London School of Economics.
Some of the major outcomes of the PIP methods include minimizing response time in the delivery of service, inducing and sustaining peak productivity levels in all departments and offices, encouraging employees to come up with viable ideas and suggestions to improve productivity, upgrading employees’ skills through regular seminars, workshops, and other training activities, institutionalizing cost reduction systems, and establishing feedback mechanisms for the public.
